Tate High School Football Hype Video
Case study: Jumbotron Hype Video
The takeaway
Our team built a legacy-driven hype film that set the tone for Friday nights at Tate High School. This was our third year partnering with the Aggies, and we wanted to level up the experience with a story that belonged to the entire program, not just a single player or moment.
The Challenge
Tate came to us wanting something fresh. Their previous hype videos were strong, but they leaned into either ESPN-style visuals or pure intensity. Everyone felt it was time to evolve past “cool shots” and build something with meaning.
A sub-60 second film. Stadium-first. Social-ready. Emotion-forward. It needed to hit the second it hit the Jumbotron.
Our Approach
As a team, we dug into some of the best hype pieces in college football. Clemson, UCF, Texas Tech… the common thread was obvious:
The most powerful hype films are built on identity, not highlights.
We took that insight to Tate and pitched a story-driven approach that would feel instantly recognizable to the community.
The Concept
We wanted the voice of the film to come from someone who understands Tate, not someone simply reading a script. Working with the coaching staff, we identified a former Aggie now playing at the University of West Florida. Someone the community respects. Someone whose voice carries weight.
As a team, we wrote a script rooted in tradition, grit, and what it means to be an Aggie. Then we shaped it around the pacing and emotion of the music we selected for the final cut.
Production: A Two-Day Team Effort
Day One – On Campus
We pulled key players for a media day style shoot with tube lights and an intense feel in the locker room. We really wanted to feel the energy through the visuals. A few things we wanted to make sure we captured on camera:
- Cadence calls, breath, intensity
- Small locker room moments
- Walk-ups, stare-downs, raw emotion
Every setup was intentional. No filler. No “just roll on something.” The goal was to capture intensity and identity from every angle.
Day Two – In the Studio
Our voiceover session became a collaborative directing moment. We played the track in the room, shaped tone and pacing together, and gave the former player room to make the words his own. We were able to give our Talent some guard rails in real time, matching inflection to the rhythm and emotional arc of the film. It felt more like a locker-room rally than a VO session… which was exactly the point.
The Result
The final film honors the roots of Tate football and lands with the weight of a traditional piece. It fires up players, engages the community, and elevates the entire game-day atmosphere.
This wasn’t just a hype video. It was a shared story built by a team that cares deeply about the details.
